Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM!”
John 8:58
Daily Devotional
December 25th
On this day, we are reminded of the great “I AM.” We are reminded of Christ’s virgin birth, and His eternal existence past, present, and future. Oh, come let us adore Him, the I “AM” that left His heavenly throne and came into this world as babe. The light of the world who has come to save the lost and will come again to make all things new. This is great news; this is our hope and our comfort. I “AM” has promised to bring us home to glory. In the book of John, we see twenty-three times our Lord’s “I AM” statements. He expresses seven metaphors of His saving relationship toward the world.
- “I AM the Bread of Life” (John 6:35 | John 6:41 | John 6:48 | John 6:51)
- “I AM the Light of the world” (John 8:12)
- “I AM the Door of the sheep” (John 10:7 | John 10:9)
- “I AM the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11 | John 10:14)
- “I AM the Resurrection and the Life” (John 11:25)
- “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6)
- “I AM the true Vine” (John 15:1 | John 15:5)
And we see more of the glories of Christ in scripture to help us know Him and make Him known. He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-13), He is the wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace; He is the Lord God of hosts, Lord of the nations, the Lion of Judah, the Living Word, and the Rock of our Salvation. He is our Creator, Sustainer, Comforter; He is the Messiah, and He is the great I AM.

Questions of Reflection:
How does knowing that Jesus is the great I AM, bring comfort and peace to your life today? When and how did the Lord intervene in your life, regenerate your heart? Give Christ the praise and honor for supernatural work He has done in you and now go and make disciples of His to all the nations. And remember that the great “I AM” in all His glory will be with you to the end of the age.

Philippians 2:10-13
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of ethings in heaven, and ethings in earth, and fthings under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
