The Glories of
Christ
December 7th
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 1:14,18

Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. Begotten means He is eternal and not created. He was and is God in His divine nature and essence. He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature (Hebrews 1:3). He is the preeminent one and the only begotten. He stepped out of heavenly and away from His throne, became flesh, and dwelt among us. The glory of God was on full display in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:19 says that the fullness of Godhead dwells in Christ bodily and there is no other like Him. The invisible God became visible. “For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; (Colossians 2:9,10). Isn’t it amazing that God in all His perfect and Holy attributes, would consider “explaining” or “interpreting Himself through Christ to a lost and dying world? The deity of Christ is a critical and essential component of the belief that one has in the LORD. This is what separates Christianity from all other forms of “religion.” As we remember His first coming as a babe in a manger on that holy night, we must with all joy anticipate His second coming. O that glorious day, O what a Glorious Christ.

What do these passages teach us about the origins of Jesus? Why did God become flesh and enter the world? What was the purpose? How does God coming into the world comfort you today in the things you are facing?
