Tuesday
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Isaiah 53:7
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth.
John 1:29
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
1 Peter 1:17-19
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
A Perfect Sacrifice
The Lamb of God
The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats, and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight.
“Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.
Exodus 12:1-7
Inspection
Have you ever faced an inspection?
When we were young we might recall a time when our parents looked to see if we actually cleaned our room or brushed our teeth. The men and women of our military are very familiar with inspections. Jesus faced inspection from religious leaders. They tried with all they had to “trip up” Jesus. To reveal any blemish, any spot of imperfection. They failed. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice, our perfect mediator and high priest. In following Jesus we should have our own inspection. Not of the past. Today. Pray to our Father to inspect your heart. To reveal any blemish, any sin, any unrighteousness. We can start our days like Jesus with our own inspection and rely on His word of forgiveness.
