Holy Week

Monday

“It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

Isaiah 56:6-8

“And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant—  these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, “I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered.”

Mark 11:15-17

And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons.  And he would not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple.  And he was teaching them and saying to them, “Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.”

Revelation 3:12-13

The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name.  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

A model of His home

A house of prayer

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,  for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  Do not quench the Spirit.  Do not despise prophecies,  but test everything; hold fast what is good.  Abstain from every form of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22

Pray without ceasing

When our Lord Jesus entered the temple, He saw what we had done with the “model” of His home.  He overturned the tables and sent out the money changers.  He cleansed the temple.

God’s word tells us, our bodies are the temple of God and the Holy Spirit resides within us.  As followers of Christ we should cleanse His home, our temple, our bodies.  Cast out all unholy things. Then as Jesus said, “It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ Matthew 21:13

Pray without ceasing.  Everyday, every hour, you have access to the One who created everything and gave everything to save you.

Destroy This Temple

In this message we consider our temple of the Lord.  How clean are we?  How holy?  How devoted?  How often does prayer ascend?
