Five Simple Words

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

James 5:16 (KJV)

In many ways today’s current landscape looks so much different from the early days of Biblical times.  When you think of all the modern advances of technology and what impact that has on our lives.  We can just pick up a small device from our pocket or purse and speak to almost anyone, anywhere in the world.  We can board an aircraft and travel to most any destination in hours.  So many diseases have been cured and life expectancy has lengthened.

What hasn’t changed?  I read an article today about someone who wanted to embarrass a politician by associating them with a known criminal.  Only this wasn’t the same person.  Their name was the same but it was not the same person.  When this accuser was called-out on their mistake, instead of acknowledging their mistake the politician just simply made really bad excuses.

Unfortunately this attitude accurately reflects many politicians and people in general.  An unwillingness to say five simple words.  We all do it.  We don’t like to admit it, but we do.  No one enjoys saying  “I’m sorry. I was wrong”.

Saying these five simple words can lead to greater understanding and a more peaceful life for us.  This is how the life of a Christian begins.  We agree with God.  It begins with the acknowledgement of five simple words. “I’m sorry.  I was wrong”  Follow up these simple words with a request that opens a whole new world for us.  “Please forgive me”.

Jesus says: “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3:5 (KJV)
