John the Baptist has been referred to many times as the forerunner of the messiah. When he was asked who he was, He quoted from Isaiah saying he is the voice. Isaiah 40:3 He went on to say that the One that comes after him is before him and he is not worthy to untie His shoes. Matthew 3:11
Who is John speaking of? He speaks of The LORD. Our God.
We can busy ourselves with cleaning, preparing food, clearing space for guests and so forth. As we prepare ourselves during this holiday season, take some time to prepare for the coming King.
How do we prepare for The King?
Spend time with Jesus. Open His Word, and see what He has for you.
A woman named Martha welcomed Jesus into her house. As Martha went about busing herself with serving, she complained that her sister Mary was not helping. Mary was spending time with Jesus. In this scripture, Jesus tells us what He wants. He wants you to spend time with Him. Luke 10:39-42

Luke 10:39-42
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
