Follow Me

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples,If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Matthew 16:24

Daily Devotional

A new believer begins his spiritual journey as a new birth. Prayer is our spiritual life-breath from that moment forward. Next a new believer should become hungry for the Word of God. Just as a new infant needs protection and provision, the new believer needs to be part of a church family of faith.

After being saved the new believer should be baptized and then should seek to learn and to obey the commands of Christ. The Ten Commandments of the Old Testament (Exodus 20) may be divided between commandments that deal with our relationship to God and commandments that deal with our relationship to others. In the same way, here, all of the commands of Jesus in the New Testament are divided. The Lord Jesus taught us the two greatest commandments:

Mark 12:29-31 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: “Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no other commandment greater than these.

May the Lord help you in learning His commands and give you joy in doing what He commanded.
